Having problems playing Pitch?
If you're having problems using the site to play, please check the list below to see if your question has already been answered. If you still need assistance, feel free to
send me an email with as much information as possible about your problem, and I will try to respond.
- Nothing happens after I log in/The game window won't open
- Make sure you don't have pop-up windows turned off for Pitchplayer.com. If you're using Mozilla or Firefox, you should add Pitchplayer.com to the list of sites from which pop-ups are allowed. You don't have to worry about annoying banner ads from Pitchplayer.com.
- Broken plugin icon
- You don't have java installed. You should download and install the free Java plugin or upgrade to a better browser than Internet Explorer. You may do this by clicking either of the links below:
- Applet loads but just hangs
- You may be behind a firewall which doesn't allow access to the Pitch server. You'll need to have your firewall's access rules manipulated so that it allows connections to www.pitchplayer.com:7000.
- The applet loads fine. What do I do next?
- Whenever the game loads, one of the computer players will automatically create a game for you to join. Just click the "join game" button in the upper-right corner to begin playing.
- OK, I played one game but I couldn't figure out what to do next
- When a game is finished, you'll need to return to the game list screen and create or join another game. You can always toggle between the "game list" screen and the playing screen by clicking either the "Game list" or "Return to game" buttons in the bottom of the game window.
- I forgot my password
- Sorry! I can't look it up. For now, you'll have to register a new account.
- I don't understand the rules
- Pitchplayer.com plays by the following rules: four point (High, Low, Jack, & Game), scoring from 11 down to zero. The Low does not have to be captured. You may throw trump at any time. For the official rules, see the rules page.
